Warren Grill, Ph.D.,
Case Western Reserve University
Warren Grill is one of the nation's leading experts in neural stimulation,
neural prostheses, computational neuroscience, and neural control.
Dr. Grill is the Elmer L. Lindseth Assistant Professor of Biomedical
Engineering at Case Western Reserve University and a principal investigator
at the Cleveland FES Center. He is a founding member of the International
Functional Electrical Stimulation Society and serves on the editorial
board of of Neuromodulation, the journal of the International Neuromodulation
Society. Dr. Grill also serves as senior technical editor for Neurotech
Business Report.

James Cavuoto, Neurotech
Reports
James Cavuoto is editor and publisher of Neurotech Business Report
and the founder of Neurotech Reports. He was the lead author of "The
Market for Neurotechnology," a market research report published
by Neurotech Reports. Cavuoto was the founder of Micro Publishing
Press, Inc., a publishing company that helped pioneer the market for
electronic publishing, digital imaging, and computer graphics. He
holds a degree in biomedical engineering from Case Western Reserve
University, where he studied under pioneers in the new field of functional
electrical stimulation. He has also studied human factors engineering
at University of Southern California in Los Angeles. Cavuoto spent
three years as a member of the technical staff at Hughes Aircraft
Company in Los Angeles, where he worked on simulation, training, and
publication products produced for the U.S. Department of Defense.
Cavuoto is an adjunct professor of publishing at Rochester Institute
of Technology and the author of eight books on computer graphics,
electronic publishing, and digital imaging. He is a member of the
IEEE Engineering in Medicine and Biology Society.

Roger Quy, Ph.D., Technology
Partners
Roger Quy is partner with Technology Partners. He joined Technology
Partners in 1989, where he has been responsible for building the life
science practice of the firm. Previously, he led an artificial intelligence
research group at Hewlett Packard Laboratories. Prior to that, he
managed the development of medical devices at Oxford Instruments Group
in England. He is a Director of several private companies including
InnerCool Therapies, Rinat Neuroscience, and Spinal Dynamics. Roger
began his career as a post-doctoral Research Fellow of the Medical
Research Council at the Institute of Neurology in London, where he
developed new techniques and devices for the diagnosis and treatment
of neurological, cardiac and sleep disorders. He has published a number
of scientific papers and contributed to a textbook on epilepsy. He
has four patents issued and one pending. Roger earned a BA with honors
in psychology and law and a Ph.D. in neuroscience from the University
of Keele, England. He received an MBA from the Haas School of Business
at the University of California, Berkeley.

Heath Lukatch, Ph.D.,
Piper Jaffray Ventures
Heath Lukatch is managing director with Piper Jaffray Ventures, a
venture capital firm in San Francisco. Heath focuses on emerging companies
in the biotechnology and medical technologies sectors. Prior to joining
Piper Jaffray Ventures in January 2001, Heath was an Engagement Manager
in McKinsey & Company's San Francisco Office where he focused
on the biotechnology and genomics industries. Prior to McKinsey, he
was co-founder and CEO of AutoMate Scientific, a biotechnology instrumention
company, and he held scientific positions with Chiron Corporation
and Roche Bioscience. Heath received his Ph.D. in Neuroscience from
Stanford University and his B.A. in Biochemistry from the University
of California at Berkeley. |

Andrew Firlik, M.D.,
Canaan Partners
Andrew Firlik is a principal of Canaan Partners in Rowayton, CT, concentrating
on healthcare investments. He spent 12 years in the healthcare profession
during his training and practice as a neurological surgeon. Dr. Firlik
has published more than 40 articles in leading medical journals, written
chapters for several medical textbooks, and is the co-editor of a
book about cerebrovascular surgery. He is a co-founder and scientific
advisory board member of Vertis Neuroscience, a medical device company
in Seattle. He is currently a director of Data Sciences International
and SpineWave and observes on the board of directors of Omnisonics,
BioLink, and Amicas. Dr. Firlik studied biology at Cornell University
and Oxford University, received his MBA from the University of Pittsburgh,
and his MD from Cornell University Medical College. He currently holds
a clinical faculty appointment in the Department of Neurosurgery at
the Yale University School of Medicine.

Daniel O'Connell, NeuroVentures
Fund
Daniel O'Connell is a Director of NeuroVentures Fund LP, a venture
capital firm specializing in the neuroscience field. Mr. OConnell
originally worked with founding members of NeuroVentures to launch
the Fund while he was attending business school. In 2000, he joined
as a Director. In addition to his experience at NeuroVentures, Mr.
OConnells involvement with venture-stage medical technology
companies includes co-founding MedSpecialists, Inc., a clinical ASP
for medical specialists, and Surgical Solutions, LLC, a company dedicated
to commercializing innovative neurosurgical products from leading
research universities. Prior to business school, Mr. OConnell
spent four years in investment banking with Advest, Inc. He holds
a B.A. from Brown University and M.B.A. from the University of Virginia.

Paul Beach, Quallion,

Paul Beach is the Director of Business Development and General Counsel
of Quallion LLC, a Los Angeles based company developing custom-made
lithium ion rechargeable batteries. Mr. Beach leads Quallion's efforts
to penetrate new markets and expand opportunities in its existing
space. Mr. Beach has over seven years of experience working with varied
technologies, including hybrid disk drives, Internet based business
applications, and bioinformatics. Prior to coming to Quallion, Mr.
Beach served as General Counsel and Vice-President of Business Development
for Infoloan, Inc., a Silicon Valley based online mortgage broker
with an emphasis in the Chinese market. Mr. Beach assisted in launching
Infoloan in Hong Kong and Taiwan as well as expanding operations domestically.
Before joining Infoloan, Mr. Beach served as an attorney with Taylor
& Co. Law Offices in San Francisco, CA. Clients included PeopleSoft
Software and TeraStor Corporation.

is responsible for determining and implementing the strategic direction

general administration and corporate finance functions. Mr. Baillie
brings to his position 20 years of management experience from the
publishing industry. Mr. Baillie has also held national sales and
advertising management positions with a number of prominent Canadian
newspapers and for the past four years he was publisher of the Victoria

Al Kyle, President, Walnut Technologies
Al Kyle is President and CEO of Walnut Technologies, a manufacturer
of a medical device for treatment of acute ischemic stroke. He joined
Walnut Technologies , at the founding in September of 1999. Prior
to joining Walnut, Kyle was division general manager for the diagnostic
ultrasound business of Hewlett Packards Medical Products Group,
where he managed technical development, field sales and service
organizations and new clinical venture business development.

Stanford W. Miller is currently serving as Vice President and General
Manager for Neuronetics. He brings 22 years of diagnostic and therapeutic
medical device experience, including engineering product design, product
management, marketing, new business development and senior management.
Mr. Miller has been with General Electric Medical Systems' CT, MRI
and X-ray products, Dornier Medical Systems' kidney stone lithotripers
and imaging systems, Elekta's stereotactic radiosurgery (Gamma Knife)
and neurosurgical products. He also has three years of experience
with rTMS technology. Mr. Miller has a B.S. in Microbiology from Michigan
State Univ., a B.S in Electrical Engineering from the Univ. of Michigan
and GE executive business management training.

Robert Greenberg, M.D.,
Ph.D., Second Sight LLC
Robert Greenberg is the President and CEO of Second Sight LLC, a manufacturer
of retinal implants.Dr. Greenberg also holds an adjunct faculty position
at UCLA and sits on the board of directors of the Southern California
Biomedical Council. Prior to the formation of Second Sight, Dr. Greenberg
worked co-managing the Alfred E. Mann Foundation. From 1997 to 1998,
he served as a medical officer and lead reviewer for IDEs and 510(k)s
at the Office of Device Evaluation at the U.S. Food and Drug Administration
in the Neurological Devices Division. In 1998, he received his medical
degree from The Johns Hopkins School of Medicine. From 1991 to 1997,
Dr. Greenberg conducted animal and human trials demonstrating the
feasibility of retinal electrical stimulation in patients with Retinitis
Pigmentosa. This work was done at the Wilmer Eye Institute at The
Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore and led to the granting of his
Ph.D. in 1997 from the Johns Hopkins Biomedical Engineering Department.
Dr. Greenberg also has biosensor and microsensor fabrication experience
from work and teaching at the Whittaker Sensors Laboratory at Johns
Hopkins. He received a B.S. in Electrical and Biomedical Engineering
from Duke University in 1990 and a degree in Technical Electronics
from Nassau Technical Institute in 1985. Dr. Greenberg has started
several other small companies including one called 'Campus Security'
where he designed, manufactured, and marketed an electronic intercom
security system called TELEKEY®. These intercoms are currently
in use in every dormitory at Princeton, Duke University, and several
other universities across the U.S.

Ann Bunnenberg is the President of Electrical Geodesics, Inc., a manufacturer
of EEG measurement and analysis systems located in Eugene, OR. Dr.

Joseph Schulman, Ph.D., Alfred
Mann Foundation
Joseph Schulman is the President and Chief Scientist of the Alfred
Mann Foundation, a non-profit research organization devoted to development
of advanced medical products. Prior to joining the Foundation in
1985, Dr. Schulman served as Vice President of Research and Development
and Chief Scientist for Pacesetter®Systems, Inc., Vice President
of Advanced Research and Chief Scientist for MiniMed®, Inc.,
and President of Neurodyne Corporation. Dr. Schulman developed or
initiated development of many leading edge medical products, such
as the first reliable rechargeable cardiac pacemaker with bi-directional
telemetry; a cochlear implant with bi-directional telemetry with
analog and digital strategies; and an injectable neural muscular
stimulator to restore function to impaired limbs and body organs.
Dr. Schulman holds in excess of 40 patents and has authored many
scientific, biomedical and engineering papers, posters and presentations.
Dr. Schulman is a graduate from University of California, Los Angeles,
with a B.S. in Applied Physics (Major: Spectroscopy) and a Ph.D
in Zoology (Major: Neurophysiology; Minor: Genetics). Dr. Schulman
is Adjunct Professor of Biomedical Engineering at the University
of Southern California, Los Angeles and on the Advisory Board at
the University of California, Los Angeles, Neuro Engineering Program.
