Neurotech Reports Plans October
Investor Forum in San Francisco
Neurotech Reports, the publisher of Neurotech Business Report, announced
plans for the second annual Neurotech Leaders Forum, to be held
in San Francisco October 3, 2002. The event will offer an opportunity
for executives in the neurotechnology industry to interact with
venture capital firms and other funding organizations.
Keynote speaker at this years event will be Dr. Warren Grill,
one of the nations leading experts in neural stimulation,
neural prostheses, and neural control. Dr. Grill is the Elmer L.
Lindseth Assistant Professor of Biomedical Engineering at Case Western
Reserve University and a principal investigator at the Cleveland
FES Center. He also serves as senior technical editor of Neurotech
Business Report.
Executives from several start-ups and venture capital firms active
in the neuro space will be speaking at the event. On the venture
capital panel, Roger Quy, Ph.D., a partner with Technology Partners
of Palo Alto, CA, Heath Lukatch, Ph.D., a partner with US Bancorp.
Piper Jaffrey in Menlo Park, CA, and Daniel OConnell with
Neuro Ventures Capital in Charlottsville, VA will participate.
On the entrepreneur panel, Peter Baillie, CEO of Epic Biosonics,
Inc. in Victoria, BC, will be one of the presenters. Other speakers
at the Forum include Robert Greenberg, M.D., Ph.D., president and
CEO of Second Sight LLC in Valencia, CA, Ann Bunnenberg, Ph.D, president
of Electrical Geodesics, Inc. in Portland, OR, and Arthur Prochazka,
Ph.D., founder of Neurokinetics, Inc., in Edmonton, AL.
Other session topics include partnering opportunities with bio/pharma
firms, distribution and marketing issues, the reimbursement outlook
for stimulation devices, and developing supportive clinician communities.
Last years Neurotech Leaders Forum was sponsored by Mayfield
Fund. It featured overview presentations on the market and applications
for neurotechnology, as well as roundtable discussions on a number
of issues affecting the development of this new industry. James
Cavuoto, editor and publisher of Neurotech Business Report, served
as moderator for the roundtable discussion, which will also be part
of the 2002 Neurotech Leaders Forum.
