Neurotechnology CEOs to Present at 2005 Neurotech Leaders Forum

CEOs and founders of several early-stage neurotechnology firms will make presentations during an entrepreneur panel to take place at the fifth annual Neurotech Leaders Forum in San Francisco October 20-21. These include Mark Carney, CEO of Andara Life Science Inc. in Indianapolis, which is commercializing an oscillating field stimulator device that regenerates nerve tissue in people paralyzed by spinal cord injury. Also presenting is Souhile Assaf, CEO of Medtrode Inc. in London, Ontario. The company is developing a multi-functional DBS electrode that promises to improve the performance of and simplify the surgical implantation of deep-brain stimulation systems now in use to treat Parkinsons disease and other disorders. K.C. Fadem, a founder of Louisville, KY based Neuronetrix, Inc., will describe the companys Cognision system for early detection of disorders such as dyslexia and autism.

Other neurotech entrepreneurs presenting at the event include Elisabeth Hager, CEO of GentCorp. in Lancaster, NY, and Daryl Kipke, founder of NeuroNexus Technologies, a developer of implanted brain probes in Ann Arbor, MI. Alan Levy, CEO of Northstar Neuroscience in Seattle, WA, will deliver the keynote address at the forum. Dr. John McDonald from the International Center for Spinal Cord Injury--the physician that the late actor Christopher Reeve credited for much of his neurological recovery--will discuss the restorative therapies his team has developed and is now commercializing.
